ABOUT THE CANTEEN

The JPPS Canteen is a nutritious and convenient alternative to providing food for your children at school. Open Monday to Friday during school terms, we provide a lunch order system that operates through your child's class, as well as an over the counter service for recess and lunch.

There is a wide range of items including:

  • Sandwiches and rolls
  • Salads
  • Hot Food
  • Drinks
  • Frozen treats

The canteen is owned and operated by the JPPS P&C and run by our canteen manager Donna Clinch. The canteen is staffed by volunteer parents who work under a monthly roster system. It is a great place to get to know other parents and help out at the same time. We are always looking for help so if you have a day a month, or can come in as an emergency call-in, then drop in and let us know.

With childhood obesity now an important issue, the canteen follows the "Fresh Tastes @ Canteens strategy adopted by the NSW Government. This means that the types of foods we sell are broken down into categories from food that can be sold daily, to foods that can only be sold on two days per term (called Red Zone Days). If you want to know more about this program please call into the canteen and talk to us.

Rest assured that all food sold at the canteen is fresh, tasty and healthy and complies with all appropriate nutritional guidelines.

If you would like any more information on the canteen or would like to make suggestions then you can pop into the canteen to speak to the manager or email us at jpps.canteen@gmail.com

LUNCH ORDERS

Lunches can be ordered either on-line (please go to www.flexischools.com.auto register and set up your account) or manually by following the below steps:

  • Choose the lunch items you would like from the canteen menu
  • Write your child's name, class and order items on a paper bag
  • Total up the cost and write this clearly next to the items
  • Place the money for the order in the bag and fold the bag over firmly
  • Ensure that the money is secure in the bag using a small amount of sticky tape
  • Drop the order into the canteen before school or have your child hand it in to their teacher first thing in the morning.

Completed lunch orders are sent back to your child's class before lunch.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are always needed!  If you have any spare time, just pop in and lend a hand or put your name down on the roster!  Helping out at the canteen is not only rewarding for you and fun for your children, but a great way to meet new people and get involved in school!  We hope to see you there!

UNIFORM SHOP

The JPPS Uniform shop is a service owned and operated by the JPPS Parents and Citizens Association and has been set up to provide all the approved uniform requirements for John Purchase Public School. Uniforms can also be ordered on-line (please go to https://uniforms.jppspandc.org.au to register and set up your account).

We have the full range of clothing and sizes normally in stock ready to try and buy. We also have:

  • school backpacks
  • hats
  • library bags
  • paint smocks
  • tights
  • socks
  • PSSA sports socks

Through our association with "Dr Shoe" we have quality school shoes at a very competitive price.

There is a simple exchange and returns policy on all our items so if the uniform doesn't fit, or there is a problem with an item simply bring it back.

We are located on the car park side of the school hall and are open from 8:30 to 9:30am every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school term and the shop is also open on staff development days between 8.30am and 9.30am.

All proceeds from the shop are retained in the school to support the funding of specific initiatives around the school. So continue to support your child's school by endorsing the efforts of the Uniform Shop.

If you have any questions or issues either drop into the shop and talk to Sarah or email us at uniforms@jppspandc.org.au

ABOUT THE P&C

The John Purchase Public School Parents and Citizens' Association is a dedicated group of parents, teachers and interested citizens that work to provide financial and organisational support to the school. The P&C is responsible for:

  • Bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation;
  • Providing facilities and equipment for the school;
  • Encouraging parent and community participation in curriculum and other educational issues at the school;
  • Co-operating with teaching staff at public functions at the school

The P&C not only organises fundraising events such as school fetes, discos etc, but owns and manages key facilities at the school including: OOSH, the Canteen, the Uniform Shop and the School Bands. We also provide funding for our Special Needs Teacher.

When and where do we meet?

The P&C Association meets every second Monday of the month at 7 pm during school term in the Hall Annexe of the school (adjoining the school hall). The meetings are open to all parents of the school and interested citizens in the area.

How do I get involved?

You can participate in the P&C as much or as little as your time and interest permits. If you have time and a little commitment or a specific skill you can offer, then you may want to consider a position on the executive or on one of the subcommittees. If you don't have a lot of time you can help out by becoming involved as a volunteer for one of the many fundraising events. Any help is appreciated.
