IMMUNISATION
Parents are asked to provide the school with an Immunisation History Statement when they enrol their child/ren. This can be obtained by contacting the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809. When the statements are not provided children may need to stay at home if there is an outbreak.
INFECTIOUS ILLNESS
There are a number of infectious diseases that affect children.
Chicken Pox Exclude for 5 days after the rash first appears and until blisters have scabbed over.
Infectious Hepatitis (Type A) Exclude until recovery and for one week from the first signs of jaundice.
Measles Exclude for 5 days from appearance of rash.
Mumps Exclude until child has fully recovered and for one week after the appearance of the swelling.
Rubella (German Measles) Exclude until fully recovered and for at least 6 days after the rash appears.
Whooping Cough Exclude for 3 weeks from onset of the "whoop"if child has not received antibiotic treatment. Exclude for 5 days only if antibiotic treatment is given.
Impetigo (School sores) Consult doctor. If sores are treated and properly covered by clean dressing, child is allowed to attend school. If not covered, child should be kept home until sores have healed.
Scabies Exclude until appropriate treatment is begun.
