DANCE
The number and type of dance groups may differ from year to year as it is dependent on the personnel, other activities being offered and available resources. We currently have: a junior dance group, a stage 1 dance group, a stage 2 dance group, a stage 3 dance group and a boys' dance group. Dance groups typically perform at school functions and events as well as externally. This year we had dance groups performing in the Hills District competition, an eisteddfod, and in the School Spectacular which is a televised event. Parents pay a fee to cover such costs as costumes and transport.
DEBATING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING
Students learn debating skills during primary years. JPPS enters debating teams are typically entered into competitions against other schools. In 2015, our two debating teams remained undefeated throughout the competition, which is a highly impressive achievement.
Students are provided with opportunities to participate in the Hills Public Speaking festival where students present speeches to their class with representatives from each class entering the school final. A student from each grade moves onto the Regional final. Students 3-6 have the opportunity to enter our inter-school debating competition with other local schools and students in Year 5 and 6 also being provided with opportunities to be a part of our Premier's Debating Team. Students in our Gifted and Talented programs additionally enter a multicultural speaking competition, with a student from each grade 3-6 moving onto the local final.
DOGS
Dogs should not be brought onto school property and they should not be left unattended while tethered to the school fence. This is to facilitate the safety of our students while they are at school and while they are arriving to and departing from school.
