LANGUAGES

Our school currently provides Mandarin as part of our RFF programs and was extended from kindy through to Year 6 in 2015. This program supports the Asian languages focus within the New Australian curriculum.

LEAVING/ARRIVING DURING SCHOOL HOURS

Students may not leave the school during school hours without permission from parents and school authority. If you are late to school or need to collect your child during the school day you must visit the front office and receive a ‘arrival/release'docket which is then taken to your child's teacher. Students are not permitted to leave without this slip from the front office.

LEARNING SUPPORT

The Learning Support Team consists of the school counsellor, the Learning and Support teacher (LAST), the English as an Additional Dialect teacher and the deputy principal. The team works with the teachers and parents to provide support for students with special needs. The team meet regularly to discuss the students who have been referred to them and to make decisions about the most appropriate programs.

LIBRARY

Each class has a lesson in the library each week with our librarian. The library is generally open for borrowing on Monday and Wednesday-Friday before school and during second half of lunch and children are welcome to visit the library on those days. The library is closed on Tuesday before school and during lunch time.

LITERACY SUPPORT PROGRAMS

John Purchase Public School provides Literacy focussed support programs for students identified as requiring extra assistance in the development of their Literacy skills. These programs include Reading Recovery, STLA, MultiLit and Reciprocal Reading.

LOST PROPERTY

Please ensure your children write their names on all belongings brought to school. If your child loses an item, please check the lost property bin located in Rooms 7 and 8.

LUNCHES

We encourage you to provide a healthy lunch for your child in a labelled lunch box.
