EARLY DEPARTURE

From time to time children may need to leave school early for an appointment. Parents / carers are asked to write a note to the class teacher in the morning if their child is leaving school early. When you arrive to pick up your child please go to the office so that your child can be signed out.

ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE OR DIALECT (EALD)

We welcome children from all around the world who come to live in Cherrybrook. We have a specialist English as an additional language or dialect teacher who assists children who are learning English. Bilingual students are encouraged to maintain fluency in their first language as well as learning to master English.

ENROLMENT

An application to enrol in a NSW government school must be completed if enrolling in a public school in NSW for the first time. When submitting this form also bring your child's birth certificate or identity documents, visa documents (if applicable), proof of residency, an immunisation history statement and court orders (if applicable). If parents are not permanent residents, an authority to enrol form needs to be submitted to the Department of Education.

EVACUATION AND LOCK DOWN DRILLS

Fire, evacuation and lock down drills are necessary for the safety of all those within the school. Students are advised of the proper procedures during these drills. The drills are conducted regularly. Please follow all procedures and requests by staff when visiting the school during an evacuation.

EXCURSIONS

Excursions are organised by teachers to enhance and support the class learning program. These often include practical experiences which can extend the children's learning experiences. The majority of excursions involve an additional cost which is passed onto parents on the term invoice. Parents can assist office and teaching staff by paying for the excursions prior to the due date. Parents who cannot afford to pay for an excursion are encouraged to contact the principal so that we can assist.

EXTREME WEATHER

In the event of extreme weather students may be kept inside the classroom or under shelter to protect their health and safety.

ETHICS

Ethics classes are available to students in Years 1 to 6 who do not participate in regular scripture classes. Parents must provide permission in writing. Ethics classes are held during the Tuesday scripture period.
